On-Highway Titles: Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Find answers to common questions about title processing, fees, and registration for on-highway equipment purchased through Boom & Bucket.

Does all heavy equipment have titles?

No, most heavy equipment does not have a title. Only equipment that is authorized to travel on a highway is issued a title.

When will my title be provided?

Since our inventory is nationwide and our selling model includes consignment sales, on-highway titles can take longer to process than purchasing from a local dealer. Titles are shipped and tracked from the seller to Boom & Bucket. They are then processed, reviewed for accuracy, reissued (if needed), and finally reassigned and shipped to the new machine owner. This process can take up to one month to complete but usually occurs within a few weeks.

Why am I being charged a title processing fee?

A $90 title processing fee is assessed for all on-highway sales to cover the cost of issuing a new title (if needed), processing, and shipping from the seller to Boom & Bucket for reassignment, and from Boom & Bucket to the buyer as quickly and seamlessly as possible.

How long will it take to get my title?

Title processing can take up to one month to complete but usually takes place within a few weeks.

Will you provide temporary tags/registration?

Due to our distributed model, we are unable to provide temporary tags at the time of purchase.

What can I do in the meantime to register my vehicle?

Typically, an in-transit permit can be acquired from your local DMV or the DMV in the state where the vehicle is currently located. Your signed Bill of Sale may serve as proof of ownership since you will not have the title in hand. Please contact your local DMV for more information on how to obtain an in-transit permit or to discuss other possible options for temporary registration.

How do you know what information to put on my title?

At this point, your Bill of Sale should have been signed by both parties. The Bill of Sale will contain all the information we need to accurately complete your title, including your name, business name, and address.

How will my title be delivered?

All titles are shipped via FedEx, UPS, or USPS. Tracking will be provided for each shipment, but no signature will be required for delivery. The address from your Bill of Sale will be used unless otherwise instructed.
